WHO IS JOSEPH RODRIGUEZ?

Joseph Rodríguez is a documentary photographer born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He studied photography in the School of Visual Arts and in the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Program at the International Center of Photography in New York City.

Artist Statement: “As a documentary photographer for over 35 years, my point of view has been to work slowly when it is possible. The domestic landscape of America has been my interest for the past three decades. Today I continue to work within the social documentary practice, covering the struggles of everyday life.”

Joseph Rodriguez’s award winning photographs capture deeply intimate moments in the difficult lives of marginalized Americans. Joseph’s traumas from abuse, addiction, and incarceration, inform the tenderness in his work. His approach is one of a listener. In this project, Joe shares a deep connection with Baron’s life story, as it closely mirrors his own experiences.
